This Flash 5 MovieClip allows you to connect any two points with a custom straight line without deforming or distorting the line.
It's better than using the traditional "rescaled-diagonal-hairline" method if, for example, you really need to use dotted lines, patterned lines, etc. It's a little slower, but the results are more flexible.

To test the usefulness of this clip, I applied it to several tutorial FLAs that I've found useful lately, replacing their "rescaled-diagonal-line" line drawing methods with my Tape Dispenser (thanks to Josh and Geoff):

Using this with your own Flash movie is easy. Download the FLA and look at the comments. Once you've added the tapedispenser to your library, all you have to do is use a single function call to write a line.
